Description
Up for this NO RESERVE-auction is one of the most sought after private pressings:
THE NAPTOWN AFRO-JAZZ QUINTET "s/t"
Private Pressing, 1980 NAPTOWN JAZZ RECORDS, Indianapolis, Indiana
BILLY WOOTEN is featured on Vibes & Marimba!
!! Includes "CROWN ROYAL" (with significant influences of the Cuban Mambo), "SAMBA DA RIO" (Batacuda-ish highly charged rhythms), an exciting version version of Nat Adderly´s "Work Song" (great arrangement featuring Billy Wooten & Royce Campbell, communicating with each other via a standard technique called "trading fours), or Wes Montgomery´s "Road Song" (featuring a funky bass solo by Julius Adeniyi), and last but not least the Sonny Rollins tune "St.Thomas" (a classic jazz tune adapted from West Indian origins) and others !!
Just listen to a file of "CROWN ROYAL":
___Cover: heavy cardboard sleeve in pretty nice shape (residue of an old price tag upper right front, check pic; slightest ring wear, almost neglectible; spine and seams intact, minimal wear to the corners (one inch seam split upper right corner, slightly bumped bottom right corner) >> EX
___Vinyl: very minor scuffing /spotting of wax with minimal loss of gloss >> NM- (EX)
___Labels: green labels clean and tight, NO spindle-marks
On the whole a very very nice copy of an ultra scarce record album (private pressing), the winner will NOT be disappointed!
(By the way: I have never seen a minty or flawless copy of this LP!)
