Description
Rare original release of Crosby's Merry Christmas album, with five discs instead of only four, as on the slightly later editions. Includes White Christmas, Silent Night, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, I'll Be Home For Christmas, Danny Boy, Faith of Our Fathers, Let's Start the New Year Right, Adeste Fidelis, and the last disc includes the Andrews Sisters on Santa Claus is Comin' to Town and Jingle Bells.
This copy is really in very nice shape, with a few minor issues. The cover has some slight wear, and someone put tape along the bottom edge to protect it (it isn't torn or damaged underneath). The first record pocket is partly torn, also, but it holds the disc just fine. The binding is excellent, and the spine is intact, which is commonly not the case. All the five discs are in VG+ to NM shape. Disc one is E++, two is VG+ with some scuffs but plays fine, three is the same, but also has a small edge chip that dos not affect the grooves at all, four is E, and the last one with the Andrews Sisters is NM, almost perfect. The fifth disc is the later Decca "block letter" logo, for some reason, which seems to be the case on several copies I have seen. All the discs play near perfectly. A lovely lovely copy. Unbelievably lovely to hear these songs on the original. No horrible CD can ever compare. And this copy sounds marvelous. AND it is the rarest version with all five discs!
