Birds Birds – Say Those Magic Words / Daddy Daddy Reaction Records – 591005 (UK, 9 Sept 1966)

A genuinely rare UK 7" single and the final release by The Birds — the band featuring a young Ron Wood, years before he joined The Faces and The Rolling Stones. This single was issued under the unusual credit “Birds Birds”, making it instantly distinctive and highly collectible.

Released in September 1966, it’s one of the hardest Birds records to find, with extremely low surviving numbers. Collectors consistently rank it as the group’s most valuable and sought‑after release.

Musically, the A‑side is a Pomus–Shuman composition produced by Robert Stigwood, giving it strong pedigree in the mid‑60s British beat/garage scene.

💷 Why This Record Is So Valuable

  • Tiny original pressing — the last Birds single, issued just as the band was breaking up.

  • Credited as “Birds Birds” — a quirky, short‑lived naming used to avoid confusion with the American Byrds.

  • Ron Wood connection — early Stones‑related material always commands premium prices.

  • High collector demand — Discogs shows 429 collectors wanting it, with recent sales reaching £200–£1,350+ depending on condition.

This combination of rarity, band history, and collector demand makes it one of the top‑tier UK mod/garage singles of the 1960s.
