Guilty Pleasures finds Anne Bisson revisiting well-worn material with a light touch, always with a knowing sense of familiarity and fresh reflections. 'Wild Horses' and 'Harvest Moon' are pared back to their emotional core and the Canadian jazz singer, pianist and songwriter's phrasing is measured. The songs are shaped by her classical grounding but left open enough to breathe. A duet on 'Autumn Leaves' with Bruno Pelletier adds a gentle contrast, while the originals sit neatly alongside the covers. It's a restrained, intimate listen with a French version of Michel Legrand's classic 'The Windmills Of Your Mind', one of the high points.
