Stunning And Rare Half-Speed Mastered Limited Edition 3LP Box Set With 36 Page Libretto with all credits and photos. Packaged in a solid feaux-leather, deluxe box set with a button flap. Pressed by JVC in Japan on high quality Supervinyl.

This Original Master Recording was made using the half-speed production process. The pressing was sourced from the original stereo analog master tapes. The disc was specially plated and pressed on high definition Super Vinyl by the Victor Company of Japan, Ltd. These are considered by audiophiles to be among the finest recordings ever produced and very limited in quantity.
Condition: Deluxe box is in like new condition. There is no wear evident on the box itself and gold leaf lettering is vibrant and sharp. The only thing that prevents me from rating this box set as near mint is that each individual record cover inside the box is marked with a sticker on the top right notating the last time the vinyl was cleaned. A blemish on the cover but, at least, we know the vinyl was well cared for. There are no spindle marks on the label. Comes with special heavy-duty protective packaging and static and dust-free inner sleeve. Libretto/Book is as new. Vinyl on all three LPs is shiny, new-looking and play beautifully.
Review: Georg Solti conducts Bizet's Carmen with Troyanos, Domingo, Te Kanawa, Van Dam and the London Philharmonic Orchestra with the John Alldis Choir and the Boy's Chorus from Haberdashers' Aske's School Elstree. The Penguin Stereo Record Guide gives this its best 3 Star rating, 'superb playing and singing stunningly brilliant recording. Yet Solti's Decca version is remarkable for its new illumination of characters. Troyanos is quite simply the subtlest Carmen on record. Escamillo too is more readily sympathetic, Don Jose is revealed as weak rather than just a victim. This dramatic and sensitive account from Solti must now take first place.
