BJORN & BENNY (WITH SVENSKA FLICKA)
PEOPLE NEED LOVE / MERRY-GO-ROUND
PLAYBOY P 50014 (PROMO)
THIS IS A SINGLE RELEASED ON PLAYBOY RECORDS, JUST BEFORE THE PHENOMENON KNOWN AS ABBA WOULD STORM THE MUSIC WORLD!
Ulvaeus and Andersson persevered with their songwriting and experimented with new sounds and vocal arrangements. "People Need Love" was released in June 1972, featuring guest vocals by the women, who were now given much greater prominence. Stig released it as a single, credited to Björn & Benny, Agnetha & Anni-Frid. The song reached #17 in the Swedish combined single and album charts, enough to convince them they were on to something.[16] The single also became the first record to chart for the quartet in the United States, where it peaked at #114 on the Cashbox singles chart and #117 on Record World's singles chart. Billed as by Björn & Benny (with Svenska Flicka), it was released there on Playboy Records. However, according to Stig Anderson, "People Need Love" could have been a much bigger American hit, but a small label like Playboy Records did not have the distribution resources to meet the demand for the single from retailers and radio programmers.[17]
The foursome decided to record their first album together in the autumn of 1972, and sessions began on 26 September 1972. The women shared lead vocal on "Nina, Pretty Ballerina" that day, and their voices in harmony for the first time gave the foursome an idea of the quality of their combined talents.
LABEL : GOOD, SOME WRITING (SEE PHOTOS)
VINYL : VERY GOOD (PLEASE READ GRADING SCALE BELOW), SOME SCUFFING BUT PLAY NOT AFFECTED
I SHIP WORLDWIDE EXCEPT FOR ITALY (TOO MANY 'LOST' PACKAGES, SORRY)
Please Read the Grading Scale Below BEFORE MAKING A BID!!!! I am honest and want you to make sure you know what you are bidding on :
Grading Scale:
Mint Like new. No scuffs or scratches, original gloss/sheen is apparent on vinyl, no writing or tears on labels.
Near Mint Very clean, may have a few light marks or scuffs, but plays very well, no surface noise. Vinyl retains most of its sheen/gloss. There may be a little bit of writing or a small tear to the label but nothing major.
VERY GOOD All in all still a very nice record. Looks a bit used, light scratches/scuffs, no gouges, still plays well, some surface noise may be audible. Labels may have some writing or small tears. Vinyl has lost some of its sheen/gloss.
GOOD Record has been played a lot and it shows. Will still play all the way through but there will be surface noise, and possibly some clicks and pops as well. Vinyl has lost most of its sheen/gloss. Good for listening to or filling in the holes in a collection, or if it is something that you just have to own for whatever reason. Nothing wrong with a GOOD record.
ANY RECORD BELOW GOOD I will not sell. This would be a record that will skip, is cracked, most of the label is torn off or covered in pen/ink scribbles, etc. These are only good for use as craft items, frisbees, etc.
