Description
UK LP Vertigo 6360 071 'Black Sabbath Vol. 4', gatefold sleeve with the attached photo booklet having the centre spread as shown.
I'm figuring this to be a 1972 pressing but it may be a year later so it's there or thereabouts. It has a large swirl label with 'Made in England' on the Side B label with the following matrices on the dead wax run-offs:
Side A: 6360071 1Y//1 1 21 17 with 'Pinky' hand inscribed.
Side B: 6360071 2Y//1 1 1 7 with 'Pecko' hand inscribed.
The gatefold is made of stiff card and in great shape. Everything is square, sharp and tight with the booklet firmly attached in the centre fold. These matt black covers tend to acquire some mild paint mottling over time as does this one but that's about as much as I can say against it really. Allowing for the minor blemishes I'm rating the sleeve 8.5 /10 for condition.
On to the vinyl which is flat, shiny and weighs in at 118g on my scale. Nice clean labels showing evidence at the centre holes of a handful of plays. In room daylight it looks very nice yet under the evil and unforgiving table lamp I see some light scuffs and hairlines. I'm tempted to give it 8 but let's say 7.5 /10 to err on the safe side.
The Vertigo inner bag is in good order yet with foxing (age browning) and the glue holding the polythene liner to the paper has dried out in places.
That's it and should you disagree with my appraisals then no problem to return of course.
99p start and the auction will run to the end.
