BLACK SABBATH DEBUT ALBUM SELF TITLED "BLACK SABBATH" ON VERTIGO RECORDS V06 in STEREO WITH THE LARGE VERTIGO SWIRL LABEL.

EXTREMELY RARE RECORD, FIRST EVER PRESSING WHICH HAS "A PHILIPS RECORD PRODUCT" ON THE SIDE B LABEL. COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING LARGE VERTIGO SWIRL LABEL.

VERY RARE, TRUE VERY FIRST ISSUE OF THIS TREMENDOUS ALBUM,.... ALL LATER "1st" PRESSINGS OMITTED THE PHILIPS REFERENCE AND SECOND (THIRD) PRESSINGS SUBSEQUENTLY HAD THE SMALL SWIRL AND VERTIGO NAME ABOVE THE CENTRE HOLE.

An Absolutely Outstanding Debut Album by probably one of the greatest British Metal/Rock Bands of the late sixties and 70's, BLACK SABBATH, with strong influence from the highly talented Tony Iommi, Terry Butler, Bill Ward and the infamous Ozzy Osbourne. Recorded late '69 and released in February of 1970, one of the greatest 70's "Rock and Metal/Garage" Albums of all time.British Metal at its Finest.

The record is in Very Good + condition, there are visible but light surface marks/fine scratches on both sides, mostly only clearly seen under a very bright light. Record plays very well, please note that there is some light background noise detectable on quieter tracks and to lead in where needle has dropped, which is normal on records that have been played and almost 40 years old!!. Obviously not mint, but still a very good copy all the same.

The SPIRAL Labels are both excellent. Both sides show only minimal signs of any spindle marking and there is no wear to the centre hole. (See photos.)

The Gatefold Sleeve is the VERY FIRST ISSUE with the CAPITAL TEXT used for the credits and Bands Names on the cross. Later sleeves had small text and Publishers etc information. Sleeve has the Osborne misspelling credit and also at base of cross under WARNING states "Copyright subsists in all stereo recordings." on all later sleeves "stereo" was replaced by "Vertigo". This is the VERY Rarest of the Sabbath 1st album sleeves! 

The Gatefold Sleeve is in VG++ condition. This is the Very First Unlaminated sleeve, made of thick card. As unlaminated was prone to light wear, There are No rips or tears on the sleeve, no unwanted stickers or price labels. Slight mark rear top right adjacent V06 ref and remains of a small name written in the past. All the outer edges are sharp and intact and in very good order with only minimal signs of edge wear. Some light creasing to bottom corner which is mainly only noticable on the inner gatefold. The spine is rigid and the text on the spine is intact, there is some light no wear to the spine edges and the base of spine. The opening edges to the sleeve are reasonably sharp and crease free. The inner gatefold is very clean, unlaminated, no marks or writing. An Extremely Rare Sleeve and a great example of this very rare classic record.

Record comes complete with the original Black Spiral Vertigo polythene lined inner paper sleeve which is in extremely good condition. No tears to seams, very tiny nick on iner swirl, poly lining intact, some aging around edges.
