Original UK Vertigo Swirl WHITE LABEL TEST PRESSING of Master of Reality by Black Sabbath - amazingly rare!!
Reluctantly selling this as I'm deduplicating my collection. How many times has an original Vertigo white label test press of this great album ever been offered for sale on ebay?!
The record is VG- condition. There are only a few spindle marks on each side (more on side 1, making side 2 more popular with the previous owner - just a couple of very faint spindle marks on side 2).
However, there are numerous light non-feelable marks all over the record caused by taking the record out of its sleeve (see detailed photo of LP) - or maybe it was left out of its sleeve for a while in the distant past? (before I acquired it in the early 1990s).
There are also some non-feelable hairline marks running across the grooves and some light scuffing here and there (especially on the first track on side 2). There is one very slightly feelable scratch across the first third of Sweet leaf, but it does not sound.
The record plays through with light surface noise throughout and some random clicks (not caused by any specific scratches).
Matrix numbers are:
A side: 6360050 1 Y //1 420
B side: 6360050 2 Y //1 420
Mother stampers (same on each side): "1 1 1" and "04" - making this a very early pressing! (logical as it's a test pressing!)
As this is a test pressing, I think it would probably have come with just a plain sleeve; however, I have located a spiral inner (in Fair condition - there is some heavy creasing and several tears, especially round the middle hole) and an original laminated box sleeve in VG- condition - it's flattened and there is some creasing to each side (especially the top opening) and some laminate lift on the left-hand side of the front.
Although this record is most certainly not mint, the fact that it is a white label test pressing makes it super-rare and a great artefact - don't miss out on this chance to pick it up!! It came to me in the condition I've described above - I have taken great care of it!
