THESE ARE GETTING IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN UP NOW IN ANY DECENT CONDITION ESP. AS A FIRST PRESS!!
Of course despite a few hairlines, there are NO skips, jumps, clicks or sticks. Unbelievably as it may sound there is not much background noise at all and whatever there might be gets drown out by the powerful songs. These earliest pressings are just bulletproof! I played this on my Technics turntable with a Linn cartridge and through my very revealing B&W three way speakers!!!
Vinyl: VG+. This is an great and better than average example. Some magical tracks on this classic album. The channel separation is fantastic. "Sweet Leaf" and "After Forever" are my favourites and they sound great. On "Solitude" some light static can be heard. Otherwise there is NO crackle and hardly any static noise. a few light hairlines are visible but this is a very respectable and nice copy with a beautiful gloss. Of course NO skips, jumps or clicks.
Sleeve: VG+. This is the original boxstyle sleeve with the envelope flap and embossed lettering. I have seen dozens of these over the last 20 years. For 95% the sleeves were obliterated with multiple scuffs and tears. This sleeve is a lot better than average and without any tear. Some teeny weeny underlaminate "mini" creases and lift near the edges. Even new ones had this to some extent. Light storage wear on the edges. Even the envelope flap which is so very vulnerable is in good shape. An absolutely respectable sleeve, not easy to better this one.
Swirl inner: VG. With age related yellowing, creasing, a tiny tear on the diecut circle and one seamsplit. On the positive side, hey it is still there!!!
This is a unique investment opportunity!!! Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible!!
