In 1981, Black Sabbath released their second album with Ronnie James Dio. He had joined the band in '79, and by the early 80s, he gave that band new life! Sabbath sounded better than they had in years, and with a different kind of songwriting. The vocals were impeccable, and the musicianship was much tighter. Original Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward had left the band, to be replaced by Vinnie Appice, whose older brother Carmine was a rock legend. Vinnie would become a rock legend, as well!

Sabbath's singer and drummer would leave to form the band Dio by the mid 80s, and Sabbath would go through a few more singers before Dio's (temporary) return. 'Mob Rules' didn't quite sell as many copies as 'Heaven and Hell', but it's still a great album. The title track was used in the animated movie 'Heavy Metal', (based on the magazine). The songs on this album are solid heavy rock songs, and today we look back on this face-melting classic!

1996 saw the release of both Black Sabbath RJD milestones, on picture disc LPs! Up for grabs is that stellar second release, 'Mob Rules', on an EXTREMELY limited edition import picture disc album. Produced in Italy, only a handful of these were made. This baby looks amazing, and is still all shiny and clean! That slightly disturbing artwork from the album's cover is on the A side (by artist Greg Hil Debrandt), and more of his art, song titles, and credits grace the B side. In very, very good condition, with no scratches, gouges, or scuffs!

So you don't have to play your picture disc (though you certainly can. The modern picture discs sound great!), I'll include a Deluxe Edition TWO disc box set of 'Mob Rules'! This has been gently used, played only a couple of times and burned, then put away. The discs look great, and have only a couple of really, really light surface marks. Nothing bad, hardly noticeable, and won't affect play in any way! This has the original album remastered, plus two bonus tracks, on the first disc. The second disc is live tracks from two live shows at the UK's Hammersmith Odeon, in '81 and '82! That second disc is a total of FOURTEEN live tracks!

It's hard to believe that it's been almost NINE years, to the day, that we lost Ronnie James Dio. Thankfully, his legacy of great music lives on, as well as stories of his kindness and compassion. Remember the Hear 'N Aid project? That was typical RJD. Always helping those in need. Friends and co-workers describe Ronnie as a great man, an amazing musician, and a wonderful humanitarian. RIP RJD, we all miss you quite a bit!
