Another from my personal collection! Please note! This is listed for its rarety rather than for its condition! Featured is A first UK pressing with the large Vertigo logo labels and #1#1 matrix endings Rarely seen with laminated gatefold (normaly seen on second issues) very collectable to find like this! The vinyl visually looks barely ever played in my opinion! However during play I noticed that there is a light background whoosing heard during quiet places on this vinyl! Having said that I heard no loud clicks or pops and the actual audio is clear and vibrant throughout! The laminated gatefold cover is superbe see photos! Rarely seen like this!

1Y#1 AND 2Y#1 MATRIX

Black Sabbath are an English heavy metal band from Birmingham. The original band line up of Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Terence "Geezer" Butler (bass), and Bill Ward (drums) is the same as the current line up (2007) although there have been many shifts of personnel over the years.

Black Sabbath remain a dominant influence in the heavy metal genre!!

Paranoid is the influential and iconic second album by British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, and contains some of their most famous work, including the songs "Iron Man", "War Pigs", and the title track "Paranoid."

Released September 18, 1970 in the UK, only seven months after the band's debut, Paranoid is Black Sabbath's only UK #1 album, displacing Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water for one week!!.

Paranoid peaked at number 12 on Billboard's Pop Albums chart (North America). The singles "Paranoid" and "Iron Man" peaked at number 61 and number 52, respectively, on the Pop singles chart. "Paranoid" as a single went to number 4 in the UK. In 2003, the album was ranked number 130 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time!.

The original UK vinyl release was in a gatefold sleeve, with the generic Vertigo 'swirl' inner bag. The inner of the gatefold had a b/w photo of the band, posed outdoors on a grassy hill, being their first appearance on album artwork. To spread the original picture over the gatefold, Osbourne was separated from the other members of the band and a section of the grass was copied and dropped into the gap. This is only readily apparent when one sees that original promo photo, whereupon it is then easy to spot the added grass on the LP!!.

The album was originally titled "War Pigs" but it is said that the record company changed it to "Paranoid" because of sensitivity about the Vietnam War. However, the band's visual interpretation of a "War Pig" was still featured on the cover. Nonetheless, the album's title and its picture of man with a sword jumping out from behind a tree meshed well together and the cover is now considered a classic album cover!!.

The labels.

The original VERTIGO labels are in awesome condition! (1st issue labels) features the swirl on side a. and the Large swirl logo and track listings on side b.(only earliest press,, All rights.... are featured around the label rim(only early press)!  Any spidering is very minimal in my opinion and can just barely be seen angled to the light only, it is obvious that this vinyl has had only minimal  play, little if (no) spindle ware   So rare  for an album that is 37 years old! very very collectable indeed!

The vinyl is absolutely superbe on initial visual inspection this looks awesome and still retains its sheen from new!  On initial inspection of the playing surface, to be honest it is hard for me to even see a blemish! Only in strong light could possibly any very light surface marks be seen, mainly sleeve removal only!, nothing that would cause any loud clicks or pops!   this has been stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the sleeve and cover to prevent ringware and damage!!     This is how i have always stored my records!

The Audio Quality

 I have played this through track for track prior to listing on a top system prior to listing! The first thing to note is that the main audio was clear and vibrant throughout which is what you would expect from a first pressing vinyl! However, there is light whooshing background noise that I heard during quiet places mainly in between tracks on the silent run off grooves which could be a pressing fault!  Please allow for the odd light isolated static/tick here and there but importantly no loud clicks or pops are heard at all! Please check my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!

Important note! This vinyl has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 25 years!,, A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static ticks\crackle. A constant clean before each play is highly recomended! A constant clean before each play will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality! 

The cover.

This is the original 1st press Vertigio gatefold  laminated) front, gatefold cover ! super glossy in appearence! This shows very light general storage ware\marks\idents  only! Any  creasings\lines  can be seen  if looked for angled in the light very superficial  consistant with age but this is still strong and straight in appearence! Amaizingly (no) major nasty creases (see photo) superbe condition of this early pressing cover which is nearly 37 years old! (no) splits or tares sharp corners and all text can be read! (no) splits (no) tares (no) nasty hand writing!The spine is straight and suffers from no flattening with age! This must grade at least excellent if not better in my opinion! 

This is the original  vertigo poly lined sleeve  light staining with age, (common on these originals due to the fact that the resin in the glue causes this over time)!! Please note there is two holes on one side and rubbing ware! this is the original  Please see photos!
