Description
For sale here is --BLACK SABBATH--PARANOID--197-- UK ORIGINAL FIRST PRESS ON THE VERTIGO SWIRL/SPIRAL LABEL
VERTIGO 6360 011
Just to clarify how to spot a genuine VERY FIRST pressing of this album:-
1. The sleeve must be UN-laminated
2. It should also have an extra line of information printed in the credits stating that the group was managed by Jim Simpson, Big Bear, Birmingham. This line of information was only on the VERY FIRST print run of this sleeve and it is omitted from all other printings of this sleeve. The reason is that Black Sabbath and Jim Simpson parted company just as PARANOID was released.
3. The 'swirl' logo on the B-side label is the larger design and the word 'VERTIGO' is printed at the bottom of the label and not above the spindle hole.
4. The B-side has the same amount of tracks (4) as all other pressings BUT there are only 3 separate tracks visible (only 2 separations).
SLEEVE.... GATEFOLD and UN-LAMINATED. Very flat and square. The edges have VERY LIGHT wear but NO splits, EX. The opening edges are in EX+ condition. The spine is in EX condition and all of the information can be read , again there are NO splits. The front of the sleeve is in EX+ condition with no surface rub. The back of the sleeve is in better EX+ with almost no wear. The inner gatefold is in wonderful N/MINT condition with the exception of where something has got stuck to the sleeve at some point "see pics".There is wear to the corner tips, and a small amount of very light creasing . In very strong condition for 38years of age. EX+. This album comes with it's correct and original inner bag in nr mint condition.
LABELS..... There is NO unwanted writing, stickers, residue or tears, there is NO wear around the spindle hole and a few spindle marks on either side. This album has had some play, and then always handled with great care. N/MINT, N/ MINT.
VINYL...... When you hold this album in the very brightest of lights you can see very few surface marks but there is no audible clicks, jumps or skips. In normal daylight this album looks fantastic with a deep black shine. Both sides play without JUMPS or STICKING. I have played this album and the sound is UN-WORN, it is full and crisp there is NO loss of sound quality at all, wonderful sound stage and stereo separation. There are very light background dust crackles. These heavy vinyl original presses are second to none. This is a great copy of a very rare and brilliant album that any collector would be delighted to add to their collection, EX/EX.
A RARE ALBUM AND SUPERB CONDITION
VERY HARD TO FIND THE VERY, VERY FIRST PRESSINGS.
