BLACK SABBATH - SELTITLED DEBUT ALBUM
Yes folks, this is it ! The one you really really want !! The VERY EARLIEST PRESSING of the mighty Sabbath's seminal debut album. This is identified by the words "A PHILIPS RECORD PRODUCT" on the label, as these words were only seen on the first few manufactured records. Obviously the matrixes are 1Y/1 and 2Y/1 to also denote this fact. Some sellers may state that they are selling the same thing, but with the matrixes 1Y/1 and 2Y/2. Don't be fooled - these are later runs, NOT the very first !! Some don't even have the VERTIGO word below the title on the label !! So there you have it - ONLY THE VERY FIRST PRESSINGS have ALL of the following attributes:
1. Label with both VERTIGO and "A PHILIPS RECORD PRODUCT" below the title BLACK SABBATH.
2. The matrixes 1Y/1 and 2Y/1 on the vinyl run-off.
3. The mis-spelling of "OSSIE" on the inside of the cover sleeve.
Now to describe the condition. I would say the cover is Very Good. Has the usual signs of wear for a cover of this age, although in much better condition than most. Is quite clean still, and does not have any writing or tears at all. Edges are a little scuffed, but nothing major. Spine is not bad at all as you will see from the pics. The most noticeable signs of age are inside the cover, which has slight creasing and specks of white in the black areas. Overall though in very good shape !!The vinyl would be Excellent if not for a couple of unfortunate scratches. One is only a light scratch on side A, and covers the first two tracks. The other is right at the end of track 3 on side B and just goes into the run-off groove. This is also heavier and much more noticeable. These are the only real blemishes on what is otherwise a really great looking vinyl which does not look to have been played all that much. The only other marks to be seen are the obvious hairlines that can never be avoided when a record is in general use. These can only be seen under strong lighting if you are looking for them. As I said, would be a definite grade of Excellent if not for the 2 scratches. Also, I do not have equipment to play the record so cannot really say how it would sound. My educated guess though, would be slight pops where the light scratch is, and a few louder clicks at the end of side B. Don't think would make much other noise (crackles etc), as the vinyl as I have said is very clean and healthy looking. There, that's it..... happy bidding everyone !!!
As you can see from my 100% feedback, I am a very fair and honest seller. Will always answer any questions, and sort out any problems should they arise. I also take extreme care to pack the records safely and obtain proof of posting every time.
Will post worldwide, but please await invoice if not from UK or Europe.
