Description
Up for auction is a beautiful original copy of the self-titled debut Black Sabbath album, originally released in the U.S. on Warner Bros. Records (WS 1871) in 1970:
-Guaranteed original pressing -Original olive green WB labels -Artisan mastering mark in both deadwax -Original opened factory shrink wrap -Original paste-down cover -"Ossie Osbourne" misspelling on back cover -"Roger Bain" misspelling on back cover -Original/correct 1970 WB inner sleeve
-No UPC/bar code on cover -Vinyl comes in audiophile poly inner sleeve
Note: The earliest pressings of this album have the Artisan mastering symbol in the deadwax. These Artisan pressings are much sought after by audiophiles for their superior sound quality which you don't find in later pressings.
Condition: The cover, still protected by the original shrink wrap, is in beautiful condition. No signs of ring wear, rubbing wear, or seam splits. Corners are nice, but two have very slight bumps with a tiny bit of rub at the open edge (see photos). Shrink is all there, but is torn on front and back. But it's still attractive and clean. Top copy and hard to upgrade. Grade: Near Mint Minus (NM-)
Vinyl is also beautiful, still has its original shiny gloss. No apparent scratches or scuffs, maybe some faint superficial signs of having been taken out of paper inner sleeve a couple times. Labels are clean, unmarked, no signs of wear around spindle holes. Record looks like it's maybe been played once or even unplayed. Handled with great care. Top copy, hard to upgrade. Grade: Near Mint (NM)
How I Pack Your Records:
I remove the records with inner sleeves from the covers prior to packing. I sandwich the record between two pieces of cardboard for padding and protection. I also reinforce the corners of the shipping box to protect the corners of the record jacket from damage.
