BLACK SABBATH - SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH

A superb condition copy of this increasingly rare and sought after 1973 earliest UK 1st press Sabbath masterpiece with truly stunning condition vinyl and audio quality, on the WWA record label, STEREO, WWA 005 super de luxe

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1  WWA 005 1Y 1 with stampers "12" and "23" at 8 o'clock and 9 o'clock respectively

Side 2   WWA 005 2Y 1 with stampers "15" and "15" at 11 o'clock and 11.30 o'clock respectively

True UK first pressing identifiers of this LP are :

- Gatefold sleeve cover. "wwa 005 super de luxe" written on back top-right cover

- "Manufactured and Printed in England" printed on bottom back cover

- 'WWA' letters on the top centre of the labels in a silver colour with "WWA005" written at 3 o'clock position

- Inner lyrics sleeve with bottom corners square shaped at 90 degrees; the top corners are shaped at 20 degrees for easier replacement in the cover

- and the real clincher for earliest 1st pressings : WWA flat (without rising ring) labels

The appearance and overall condition of the flat and nicely weighted vinyl is excellent plus (EX+). Fabulous condition with a glossy, jet black sheen and no marks at all. Close scrutiny under a bright halogen light reveals just a couple wispiest of wispy small hairlines but that's it! Not even paper scuffs. Clearly this LP has been played very sparingly, probably only a few times - amazing for a 47 year old antiquity such as this!

The labels are pristine. Gorgeous smooth labels with all silver writing and the WWA "cloud" logo perfectly intact. No faint spindle trails and the remnants of the plastic

The iconic non-laminated gatefold outer sleeve is excellent (EX). Such an iconic sleeve, but fragile and prone to wear and tear and becoming hard to come across a UK 1st pressing in excellent condition or better. This copy IS excellent. No creasing and all edges remaining beautifully rigid, including the spine where all spine text remains perfectly intact and legible. Each corner remains a nicely defined right angle with just minimal rubbing, and the opening sides are firm with no fraying. There is just some very minor occasional light scuffing on the bottom front edge, some very light shelf wear on the front side close to the front, top and opening side edges, and on the reverse side some very light age marks around the perimeter adjacent to the edges along with the hint of some very mild ring wear. All trivial, but sufficient to ensure that the grading is not excellent plus or better, it is spot on excellent. The inside of the gatefold is near perfect - difficult to fault in fact, and there is no unwanted writing or doodles,

Finally, the quality of the audio is truly excellent plus (EX+). Superb, in fact. Great tone and clarity throughout, even at higher volume and on higher frequencies. No skips, jumps, repeats, or clicks and no background crackle or interference either. Every track on this magnificent LP makes for a great listen, partly because the STEREO sound quality is so brilliant and also because every single track is a great track musically!! What a truly magnificent LP this was and still is.

Comes complete with original "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" lyric inner sleeve which remains in superb condition with no tears, rips, seam splits, discolouration or obvious creasing and remaining 100% functional. Note that I always post the record in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.

In summary a truly excellent plus condition copy (with superb condition vinyl and stunning stereo audio reproduction) of this increasingly rare and sought after 1973 UK earliest 1st press Black Sabbath rock classic - worthy of gracing any serious vinyl collection and only continuing to gain in value.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard "crucifix" style mailer along with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
