(RARELY EVER SEEN IN THIS CONDITION)! COMPLETE WITH BOOKLET (AS NEW)

Another from my personal collection of UK albums that I have accumulated over a period of more than 45 years!  Black Sabbath is one of my all time favorite heavy rock groups. I own all of the UK albums of Black Sabbath and most of the variants that I know of and over the next few days I have decided that I will be featuring all of the Black Sabbath albums on this site. Please check for my other listings of Black Sabbath albums listed now.  This album has always been stored in a case with the vinyl separated from the cover and sleeve for protection. This is how I have always stored my records.  This is very very sought after original 1st UK pressing! Very Very rarely seen with #1 and #1 1st press matrix! This being the very earliest and in this awesome condition is very, very collectable indeed! Stunning 1st issue gate fold cover with the booklet firmly attached complete with the original vertigo swirl record sleeve. Near Archive copy Never Need to Upgrade! This is up there as one of the best looking and one of the best ever sounding copies that I have heard. Outstanding separation that can only be heard like this on barely played original 1st pressings that can't be surpassed by any other format in my opinion. Certainly an audio archive copy.

Black Sabbath Vol 4 is the fourth studio album by British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released in 1972!

The original UK release was as a gatefold sleeve, with a page glued into the middle. This gave each band member their own photo page, with the band on-stage (and photographed from behind) at the very centre.

To see our YouTube video and hear a sample of the track "Cornucopia" click the play button above

Alternatively just click play to Listen to the track "Cornocopia" actual recording from this vinyl listed!

The album was originally to be titled Snowblind, the name of a track on the album which was a reference to cocaine use. The record company felt this to be controversial, for the American market in particular, so the title was altered. The song "Snowblind" had to be re-recorded because in the original Ozzy yelled the word "cocaine" after each verse. He can still be heard whispering "cocaine" in the final version, and he often shouted, "Cocaine!" during live performances of the song, as he does in their Reunion live album and the bootleg album Live at Last. In the liner notes of the album Black Sabbath thanks to "the great COKE-Cola Company," a slightly-hidden drug reference. Also during the Vol. 4 era, Geezer Butler sported a sticker on his white bass that said "Enjoy CoCaine," a takeoff on the phrase "Enjoy CocaCola."

The track "Changes" was one of the first Black Sabbath tracks to extensively use keyboards - piano was featured previously, on "Planet Caravan" from the Paranoid album and 'Solitude' from the Master Of Reality album.

The album was recorded in California, the first time Sabbath had recorded a studio album outside the United Kingdom.  "Changes" was a piano ballad written by Tony Iommi including some use of a mellotron for the orchestral sounds. A lyrically-adjusted cover version gave Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne a number one single thirty one years later.

The album was reissued in 1996 on the Power Sound label as Children of the Grave with a new cover and one additional track, the "Children of the Grave" recording from Live at Last!.

The album's title and cover art were spoofed for the 1992 Peaceville Volume 4 compilation!

All songs were written by Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne and Bill Ward.

The matrix and mother stampers.

side a. ''6360071'' ''1Y'' ''#1'' ''420 1'' ''PORKY'' HAND ETCHED (ONLY 1ST PRESS)

side b. ''6360071'' ''2Y'' ''#1'' ''420 1'' ''PECKO'' HAND ETCHED (ONLY 1ST PRESS)

The labels.

The original labels are in awesome condition, almost like new!,, features the swirl on side a. and the swirl logo and track listings on side b.(only early press) All rights.... are featured around the label rim (only early press)! I can hardly see any spidering (perhapes a handful only) and hardly any spindle ware  which indicates that this has hardly been played very (very) rare for an album that is 35 years old!

The vinyl.

Original heavy thicker and deeper grooved type of vinyl only seen on these very early pressings! Very soon were changed to flimsier and less robust type of vinyls! The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and has no warping.

The vinyl is absolutely superbe on initial visual inspection this looks like new and still retains its sheen from new in my opinion! (please note this vinyl has (not) been over played and indeed hardly played at all , nor are there any signs of groove wear or distortion!

The Audio Quality

I have played this through track for track and the audio quality is superb crystal clear and extremely vibrant! (In strong light any marks that could possibly be seen would be sleeve removal marks, to be honest I find it hard to even see a blemish on the playing surface. (no)scratches when held in very strong light(no) needle scratches or audio sounding marks that I can see! The audio on this pressing in my opinion is as good as it gets for a very 1st pressing in my personal opinion! Certainly one of the best sounding copies that I have heard   Even in between tracks there is extremely minimal noise! Please note! It is easy to be critical about these 70s pressings! Please allow for very light static\crackle during very very isolated quiet places only but not consistant through out the audio. In my opinion  this almost plays as new! This is one of the best audio that i have heard of this pressing! I would class myself as highly critical and this is a truly exceptional sounding vinyl and the 1st by this awesome band ''black sabbath''

One of the most vibrant , rich and awesome sounding copies that you will ever hear in my opinion. Listen to the digital recording of this vinyl in full! Click the play button above in this listing.

Please note! That i always make this disclaimer! That although I never heard any clicks or pops at all during the play of this record please allow for the odd static tick\crackle here and there certainly not consistant throughout the audio,Please remember that this is a genuine 43 year old vinyl that would have been played on a 43 year old system.

Please also note, that this album has been stored laying dormant in a case for over 40 years or more. A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static ticks/crackle. A constant clean before each play will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality.

The cover.

This is the original gatefold (non) laminated  1st press  cover with black on the inside opening Printed  by ''HOWARDS PRINTERS'' (Slough) This cover is in amaizing condition superbe Please note the  gatefold being primarily black in colour these are virtually impossible to keep as new (see photos) Remember this is 43 years old and original! , (no) major nasty creases worth mentioning at all, any minor half moon type you would have to look for to notice.  Any rubbing at the edges, you would have to look for to notice and amaizingly no real rubbing on the front or rear which is very rare to find any edge rubbing is very minimal indeed and again you have to look hard to notice.  The spine is lovely and square and the writing is fully legable rarely ever seen like this! This is strong and straight as it should be!! The color booklet is in as new condition full intact and well secured! This cover is graded at least excellent plus to very near mint in my opinion!

The record sleeve

This is the original vertigo swirl poly lined sleeve in superbe condition Just light staining \ fading with age (usual reaction to the glue)  No edge splits very rare to find. (see photos) still hard to find in this condition! Please note the vinyl is stored seperately from the sleeve! This is how i have always stored my records!

HOW I SEND MY RECORDS!
