Record Collector magazine, December 2008:
“When Vertigo discontinued the ‘swirl’ label they began to repress albums – including all four Sabbath albums – on the ‘spaceship’ label. However, as Sabbath had set up their own WWA label, this was discontinued, as the album was subsequently pressed on their WWA label. Though there are ‘spaceship’ labels for all four Sabbaths, there are less copies of this version of Vol 4 in circulation. Some sources have said as few as 100 are out there…Vol 4 was never repressed again on the ‘spaceship’ label”

LABELS: EXCELLENT+
The Roger Dean designed labels (w/'Made in England' text) are clean, bright and unmarked with no loss to their deep vibrant colour and carry only light/moderate spindle traces
VINYL Visual: EXCELLENT
Both sides retain their original deep glossy sheen with just some light hairlines and circular marks - these are purely cosmetic and have no audio significance - both sides play beautifully
VINYL Audio: EXCELLENT++
When play-checked at loud volume the sound performance is crystal clear, deep, rich and vibrant and the whole set plays with practically nothing to fault - no scratches, no clicks/pops, no groove-wear or distortion or even any significant surface noise - the quiet "Changes", the experimental "FX' and the acoustic 'Laguna Sunrise' all deliver exceptionally clean sound
SLEEVE: EXCELLENT
A very nice example of this easily worn and ring marked gatefold. Both the front and back surfaces are unrubbed and the black colour is strong (just some light 'foxing' to the white portions), the edges are crisp and square with just a little storage wear and the spine is straight and true with all text clear and bold. The opening edge has a little 'feathering' and a catalogue sticker on the back top corner ('6', quite discreet) but these are the only real 'downsides' and the inside of the gatefold is like-new with the four page booklet firmly attached and all pages crisp and fresh
INNER SLEEVE: EXCELLENT+
Clean and fresh with no seam splits
