BLACK SABBATH - BLACK SABBATH
A nice copy of this 1970 Vertigo small swirl early pressing with impressive sound quality throughout
Year/Label : 1970 UK VERTIGO Label number : VO 6 Matrix numbers : VO 6 1Y 1 420, VO 6 2Y 1 420 Stampers : 12 23 / 13 9Very good plus (VG+) condition vinyl - completely flat and retaining a nice jet black sheen. Closer inspection under a good light reveals a number of very light fine scuff lines/marks and occasional very fine hairlines on both sides - all non-feelable, appearing to be surface only, and minimal impact (in the form of some occasional and very light background crackle during some of the intermissions/quieter passages) on the impressive sound quality. The labels are excellent with the only blemish being some small and very faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label. Very good (VG) condition unlaminated outer gatefold sleeve with firm edges and a rigid spine. There are some blemishes : mild (but clearly noticeable) intermittent scuffing on the bottom edges, mild rubbing on each corner, a few tiny "nicks" on the top edges and spine (though there is 1cm of spine scuffing adjacent to each spine corner), a small area of scuffing and residue on the front side at the top left corner where a small label has been removed, x3 non-obvious mild score lines on the front edge towards the bottom left, some very mild ring wear on the reverse side, and on the inside of the gatefold x2 scuffs next to the top edge (see photo) along with the occasional very light handling/storage surface mark. Still presentable, still completely functional, but with clear blemishes necessitating a grading of "very good" only. Overall excellent (EX) stereo sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats, clicks or distortion, and any background crackle is at a minimum - just some very occasional and very low level background crackle during the intermissions and quieter moments (there are not many!) and barely impinging upon the impressive sound quality. Great tone and crystal clear reproduction with every track a great listen - what a terrific album this remains. Comes with original (the date does correspond to the release date of this LP but the catalogue number written on the reverse side corresponds to Colosseum's "Daughter Of Time" LP!) Vertigo swirl poly-lined inner sleeve with no side splits, no edge fraying, no tears, minimal creasing, and just some mild age discolouration on both sides next to the top edge. Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original. An overall nice copy of this 1970 UK 2nd pressing Sabbath classic with the impressive sound quality being a highlight.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
