ORIGINALLY PASSED off as a wannabe Sabbath but that couldn't be further from the truth. Black Widow, despite sharing a sinister name, are a far more erudite band than Sabbath focussing their musical agility on period progressive rock with a theatrical bent. Imagine Arthur Brown fronting Rare Bird and you might have some idea of where they are coming from.
The emphasis here is on not so much complex arrangements but more on their largely unstructured free form musicality. Of course their best known track 'Come To The Sabbat' is featured on side one which is actually more Edgar Broughton Band than Sabbath with side two featuring just three songs - a prog rock smorggersboard of differing moods, inflections and arrangements. The super long title track is a magnificient piece of music with a galloping rythm section, lashings of Hammond organ and great flute accompaniment ala Jethro Tull
Produced by Patrick Meehan (engineered by Roy Thomas Baker) who, rather ironically, would later go on to pick up Black Sabbath for management and also sign them to his production company WWA Records. Always liked the drummers name - Clive Box!

Vinyl: Good condition. Spindle marks visible on labels and light signs of use - micro hairlines from sliding in and out of the inner sleeve and one faint needle mark (NOTE not a scratch!). Grades as Ex
Cover: Minor signs of use. Issued in a beautifully illustrated matt finish gatefold cover. Sharp corners (edges slightly worn), no dings, no bends, faint hint of ring wear just beginning, no split seams and a couple of light creases visible on rear panel. Displays a little storage and handling wear - nothing horrendous. Spine is straight. Grades as Ex
