ORIGINATING, I think, from the midlands this cool four piece hard rock band (featuring two brothers) scored an unexpected and sizable hit single with the track 'Standing In The Road' (not on this album) and looked set to step up into the footsteps of other period hard rockers such as Free, Humble Pie and Wishbone Ash but sadly lady luck was not smiling in their direction. Despite issuing this rather formidable album of excellent and well crafted hard rock the band had been brandished a one hit wonder and the serious album buying fans gave them the cold shoulder. And that was indeed a great shame as this album is a masterwork of heavy British hard rock firepower.

Choc-full of epically constructed rock the emphasis is on drama and precision. 'The Spring Of '69' is a prime example of the groups unbridled and unrivaled talent showcasing the epic side of their approach - heavy and dense yet brilliantly arranged to accommodate a sense of majesty and grandeur. The guitar work is uniformly excellent - heavy, precise and yet full of inventive flare with plenty of overdubs, wah-wah solos and great riffs.

If you've never heard this one and you like your hard rock to sound like it's intelligent yet muscular you'll be in for a real treat. Highly recommended.

This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.

Vinyl: Nice clean and shiny condition - when held in strong light the vinyl is coloured blood red. No spindle marks and absolutely no other signs of use. Unplayed! Grades as shop fresh MINT!

Cover: No signs of use. Issued in a beautifully illustrated textured gate-fold cover. Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, no ring wear, no split seams and no creases. Spine is stiff, straight and totally uncrushed. Beautiful and impossible to find like this 45 years after release. Grades as shop fresh MINT!
