BLACKOUT - AIRPORT ZURICH Lp by VARIOUS ARTISTS. Original Swiss private pressing on the BLACKOUT label (BAR 7301) from 1973. Cult, promo-only private release, showcasing the music of little known groups who played at the legendary Blackout nightclub / discoteque / music venue, located just beside Airport Zurich. The nightclub owners apparently sponsored the creation of this Lp which was either sold or given as a freebie to club members, at the time. An eclectic mix of genres by these super-obscure bands... Features The Skorpyons of Jamaica and their killer tropical funk version of the Lyn Collins / James Brown anthem, THINK (ABOUT IT) complete with a bass-heavy, alternative arrangement and several bboy drum breaks. Primitive and raw sounding rare groove with pumping rhythms / JBs style horn section and super soul sister lead vocals. Great for DJs with booming production sound. Totally destroys anything James Brown related on the Lamia Soul Time Lp by The Kadri Six too. The other standout, is a psychedelic cover version of English rock gods The Cream - I Feel Free classic, played by a group called Date Of Birth with phased dub production / cool guitar shredding and funky rock beats galore ;) Beautiful gatefold sleeve artwork showing the alien-sque logo / interior shots of this infamous nightclub and our copy is signed and also includes 6 original photo inserts of the groups detailed below :) Rare Lp!!!

Vinyl is VG++ condition overall regardless of some hairlines / faint scuffs and some old cloudy streak marks from compressed contact with the original plastic inner. Some light surface noises. Booming production sound. A touch of wear around spindle area of label. The laminated gatefold sleeve is in strong VG++ condition with a little laminate peeling to botton edge and also some light wear to bottom corners (front and back). Minimal ring wear from storage. Some natural age discoloration. A few mini wear marks to edges. 6 original photo inserts included. Signature dedication to front sleeve. Sharp looking item. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label photo. Rare Lp!!!
