BLEACH BOYS: Letterbox Lane // Hold On / Runaround Sue
BJ RECORDS BARB-1/BARB-2 UK 7" 1980s (undated, possibly 1986) 7" (not issued in ps)
Extemely obscure and mega rare fantastic indie-pop C86 ep - not related to the PUNK band of the same name, although Mick Groome (one of the two members credited on label, see here for bio) was connected to punk through his collaboration with Sean Tyla in his late '70s recordings as well as in the mid '70s pub rock band Ducks Deluxe (with Sean Tyla, Nick Garvey of the Motors, and Brinsley Schwartz amongst others) - although there is no date on the ep and looks like an early '80s one, information coming from a band member suggests that this is from 1986. Would need to be double-checked though.
Musically, this is a real 10/10 gem - A' side could be mistaken for Beatles (well,..) - excellent melodic guitar-led pop very close to the mid-80s indie-pop and C86 fashion (which matches the given date) - on the B' side 'Hold On' is also an excellent mod-ish indie, borderline powerpop while 'Runaround Sue' is a modern cover of the Doo-Wop No 1 hit of the '60s, really well-played too.
A really unknown gem from the DIY punk/new wave era, never seen another of it for sale, and a nice condition copy.

vinyl: vg+ (clean labels, has some vinyl wear with a couple of deeper scratches, but plays with no problems)
