EXCELLENT record shows some signs of having been played,but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear or creasing. **note ~ where a NEAR EXCELLENT (EX-) grade is used it will mean a record which has a few very faint marks but not seriously affecting play. Most collectors will be happy with this grade for play.
VERY GOOD the record has obviously been played many times , but displays no major determination in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items , without any major defects, is acceptable. **note ~ where a NEAR VERY GOOD ( VG-) grade is used it will mean that record is just below the very good standard visually and audibly. Perhaps a few more hairline marks but nothing to cause sticks or jumps in play.
GOOD the record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriated,perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding,scuffing of edges , spine splits,discolouration etc... **note ~ I rarely use this grade unless the record / sleeve are especially rare and are worthy as a collection filler copy.
