Blow You MIND! ... psychedelic laced/acid rock ingredients make up comes the second and last album by the underestimated Salvation Gypsy Carnival Caravan, who made two interesting & essential albums in the late '60s...
Formed in San Francisco after two different groups of people met each other in 1967, they were originally called New Salvation Army Banned, inevitably cutting their name to the shorter version: Salvation, afraid that the real Salvation Army could legally prosecute them when they were signed to ABC Records. Before getting the ABC deal they were residents in a Local Topless Club and used to play often in various hippie group gatherings in the hip neighborhood of Haight-Ashbury. After their major label first LP they started getting a lot of gigs supporting top groups at the time, like Big Brother And The Holding Company , Canned Heat and even The Doors. Their fame kept growing and were invited to record a Second Album, Gypsy Carnival Caravan, getting a gig as headliners in the Fillmore East. The band sadly came to an end when their management took away their ABC contract money in 1970.
The highlights inside, among others, are - "Handles Of Care", "Yuk Yuk", "Salvation Jam" and "What'll I Do #42". So if you dig '60s Psychedelic rock similar to the San Francisco acid acts, you will surely find this album to be a lost gem. Overall very groovy sound, full of extended jams dominated by organ and fuzz guitar trade-offs solos, and mixing together. Somewhat like the first two "Country Joe & The Fish" albums chasing and delivering the acid rock sound of the S.F. underground scene!
