Description
Absolutely gorgeous copy of the very rare original 1965 first pressing of Blue Mitchell's The Thing to Do LP on Blue Note stereo ST-84178. Features Chick Corea on one of his earliest recordings. Rudy Van Gelder stamps in the runoff, as well as the "ear" mark. 61st Street address, with just "New York" on the labels. This copy is truly an incredible one. The disc looks amazingly clean and plays just about flawlessly and truly beautifully. Barely even the slightest tiny tick anywhere. Plays like it was a new copy. There are a couple of very light show sleeve marks but barely. I have never in all my years of collecting jazz albums seen a better copy than this. And hearing it is just a joy... the original pressing sounds so much more present and full bodied than the later pressings, and this is the first time I have heard one that has absolutely no crackle or noise at all. What a treat to hear... The cover has only the lightest shelfwear, with a very slightly bumped lower left corner, and a little less bumped lower right... just a touch of light signs of use, but really an unbelievably crisp and clean cover as well. And it even comes with the original 26 Years of Blue Note innrer sleeve, also in near immaculate shape. This is truly a top, top copy, near impossible to beat. Very rare to find one so clean...
