JIMMIE RODGERS!
WAITING FOR A TRAIN/BLUE YODEL #4 (California Blues) (RCA Collector's Issue #27-0101 w/company sleeve, 1950): CLEAN M- GEM 45 w/COMPANY SLEEVE!
Unplayed after 70+ years? Sure looks like it; this scarce 1950 CLEAN M- GEM 45 (with its correct company sleeve) will sound terrific on your turntable, jukebox...or put it in The Vault!
Jimmie Rodgers (1897-1933) was the first inductee into the Country Music Hall Of Fame; he's also the forefather of bluegrass & folk music, and the progenitor of every white kid who ever picked up a guitar. Jimmie inspired African-American bluesmen, too; appropriate payback, since he got many musical ideas from black songsters.
Not just C&W artists sang Jimmie's songs...both sides of this, the only 45RPM issue of the original October 1928 recordings, were covered by rockers. Waiting For A Train was a fave of Jerry Lee Lewis & John Fogerty included California Blues on his superb Blue Ridge Rangers LP.
