Description

BLUES 78 RPM -
THE SLY FOX with IKE TURNER BAND (see below) -
SPARK 108 -
"I'M TIRED OF BEGGIN'" / "HOO - DOO SAY"
If you use the Shazam app to search the "I'M TIRED OF BEGGIN'" track it will return IKE TURNER as the recording artist. This made me investigate and found the following info.
Per the RATEYOURMUSIC website: "I'm Tired of Beggin'" & "Hoo - Doo Say" were cut at Ike Turner's home in Clarksdale, Mississippi in March or April 1954 by Eugene Fox [The Sly Fox] (vocal), Ike Turner (guitar), Raymond Hill (tenor saxophone), Jesse Knight Jr. (baritone saxophone), Annie Mae Wilson (piano) and Willie "Bad Boy" Sims (drums). These sides were issued on this Spark 108 release by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, credited to The Sly Fox. Eugene had thought they were only practicing at Ike's house and was extremely surprised to find the tracks issued.
Record is graded E with light sticker stains in dead wax one side and tiny label tear. (See bottom of listing for 78 RPM grading criteria.)

78 RPM Grading Info:

N As new and unplayed (there are virtually no 78s that can categorically be claimed to be unplayed).

N-    Nearly Mint, but has been played. No visible signs of wear or damage.

E+    Plays like new, with a few signs of handling, such as tiny scuffs from being slipped in and out of jackets.

E Still very shiny, near new looking, with few visible signs of wear, but a few scuffs and scratches.

E- Still shiny but without the lustre of a new record, may have some light scuffs/scratches and/or surface noise.

V+    An average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use have dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate, but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced.

V Moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive.

V- Quite playable still, but distortion and heavy greying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches below music level.

G+ Grey throughout but still serviceable. Music begins to sound muffled. Heavy scratches.

G Quite seriously worn and scratched, but music level is still higher than surface noise.

G- Music still prominent, but wear and scratch damage extensive.

F Most of music remains audible over surface noise, but listening now uncomfortable.

P Unplayable.
