Hello everyone,
I'm auctioning seven blues 78s.
The artists are Bessie Smith, Big Bill Bronzy, Nellie Lutcher, Lonnie Johnson and Mahalia Jackson. The titles may be read from the photos but please ask questions, if in doubt.
The Big Bill record is " Black, Brown and White " and is a real classic. The words are a social comment on The United States segregation situation and the record was not permitted air play in the majority of States when it was released.
Sadly the condition isn't great but the record plays fine and the lyrics are very clear. The Nellie discs are rated as VG to Vg ++, they have various small marks but play well. The other records are rated as VG minus but they still play fine on my HMV 102 gramophone. Although most sides have many marks there are no huge deep scratches, chips or other nasties.
One must appreciate that some of these recordings are up to 80 years old. All come with sleeves.
