Description
Here we have a rare BLUES 78rpm disc from c.1929. It features Atlanta bluesman George Carter (under the pseudonym “Bob Crane”) and consists of two of the four sides he recorded for Paramount, in Chicago.
The tunes are “Ghost Woman Blues” and “Weeping Willow Woman” and they’re on a fairly rough, but well playable disc, Herwin 93018.
It is not a scintillating hi-fi experience.
The disc plays through on both sides, with occasional “blasting” of the loud bits. Although covered in small scratches (probably from being kept in a pile of discs with no sleeves) there are NO major gouges or needle runs.
The surface noise, which is fairly heavy, is a constant hiss.
It ISN'T badly afflicted with single loud clicks and clonks.
It does NOT skip or stick.
Using a cheap clean-up app (like Nero etc) it should respond very well.
I HAVE PHOTOGRAPHED IT IN THE WORST POSSIBLE LIGHT TO SHOW UP ALL THE DEFECTS.
The performance recorded upon it is, of course, astonishing.
Paramounts and Herwins were always pretty rough sounding, even when they were new. This one has survived 89 years better than you might expect.
I bought it from a community fund-raising stall in Cumberland Gap, Virginia, half a lifetime ago.
Years later in Louisiana, I found another in slightly better condition.
So, you can have this one.
Using the VJM grading guide, I would say that the condition of both sides is G to G+ or thereabouts.
Take a good look at the photographs and decide fer yerself.

I apologise for the hefty mailing costs. I pack VERY carefully, in a firm cardboard sandwich with polystyrene peanuts etc.
It's very secure but quite expensive.
If you buy more than one record off me, I will GREATLY REDUCE THE POSTAGE ACCORDINGLY, so the more you buy.. the cheaper they become!
The record in the photograph is the record you will get.
I have described the item to the best of my ability, and everything looks in collectable condition to me, but please check the photographs to decide for yourself.
