Description

The record you are viewing is part of a collection acquired through a successful auction bid.  The product purchased is from a deceased record store owner whose doors closed circa 1970, having made a run of it during the 60's.  An incredibly large volume of LPs remained, many in new (sealed) or pristine condition and properly stored.  These will comprise the bulk of offerings I will be posting on eBay.  With a vast and well preserved inventory, it will take time to sift through and uncover the many hidden gems that await.  My goal is to present these finds to eBay buyers in a timely and systematic manner.  I am aware finds of this nature are indeed rare, but the fact is, the records I will be listing have sat undisturbed for over 40 years waiting to be rediscovered, shared and enjoyed.  I hope you will find some items you've been wanting and can be part of, what I feel, is an historical find.   All items kept in smoke-free, pet-free environment.
Riverside deep groove MONO LP RLP 12-243 - released 1957
EX condition vinyl has much of the original shine and gloss.  May have been played once or twice previously.  Spindle mark on side one, but not side two, indicates perhaps only side two was played.  Test played on NAD C555 turntable revealed clear quiet analogue sound on side one.  Side two has vinyl inherent light surface on tracks one and part of track two.  The overall sound throughout, however, is vivid with detail and presence.  The lineup on this record is pretty much second to none and the playing is exemplary.  It's amusing that Coltrane, as one of the featured artists, is not listed on the cover but on the rear panel only!  The laminated cover is EX as well.  Sturdy and well constructed, there is a 1/2" laminate peel mid-throat (barely noticeable), a small ding lower left corner from wear, and a rectangular adhesive remnant upper rear right corner.  Virtually no shelf wear - a beautiful package.
