Blur : Leisure A-1J / B-1J 1st UK Press 1991

This first pressing from '91 plays to a superb standard with barely any interference.  There is just one dull click on S2 and some minimal light static on the 'Birthday' intro.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is so impressive and there is no inner groove distortion on the top end.  'Sing' for example is just stunning.

The cover and lyric inner are both in fantastic condition with barely any wear, they have been so well preserved.  It's hard to believe this album is nearly 34 years old.

This may be a rarity as I could not find this A-1J/B-1J pressing on Discogs.  The only 'J' one has the incorrect 45 rpm speed on the labels whereas this one has 33 1/3 rpm.

Visual description

The vinyl is in excellent shape with a strong glossy look and no scratches.  There are some faint hairlines with only a couple that are a little more obvious, superficial though as they have no affect on the superb audio.  There is a small spot / speck on S2 also.  The labels are unmarked and have just a little spindle wear around the centre hole.

Play grading

'She's So High' has only the lightest of static at the start of the intro for 3/4 seconds and from then on plays with perfect clarity.  An example of this is during the quieter bass section which has no ticks, clicks, pops or static.  Overall Mint- is deserved here.

Both 'Bang' and 'Slow Down' play so well with no intrusion.  Great clarity and depth - the latter in particular plays with real power and no distortion.  Mint

The quiet intro on 'Repetition' has no background and the opening vocal section is just as clean.  It continues to play with stunning clarity and depth with just nothing getting in the way of the audio.  This is a track with a number of more powerful sections but again the power and definition is superb.  No faults here just a hint of light static on the fade out so Mint-

The intro on 'Bad Day' is faultless and the opening vocal has no interference either.  This standard is kept up as it progresses.  No clicks or static etc just crystal clear audio throughout.  Mint

The classic 'Sing' has only a handful of very quiet statics on the intro, they hardly deserve a mention, and Albarn's opening vocal then plays with impeccable clarity and depth.  From then on the sonic quality is so strong and clear and it really could not play any better.  There is no inner groove distortion and the power and resonance of the audio is just STUNNING!  To the end it plays with such quality and Mint- is again fair.  Even the quiet ending has no background.  What a version!

'There's No Other Way' plays with stunning audio through every vocal and instrumental section.  A classic 90s single I cannot fault it - tremendous clarity and depth and... no intrusion.  A Mint start to S2.

'Fool' again impresses on every level and grades as Mint

'Come Together' plays with stunning precision - it really is a superb track.  Another powerful number and yet the sonic quality is just as strong as it would have been when pressed back in '91.  Mint

The only intrusion during 'High Cool' is one dull click followed by a very quiet tick in the middle section caused by that small 'spot' but aside from that it plays perfectly.  Let's say Ex+

The quiet intro on 'Birthday' plays very clearly with only minimal light static plus one tick towards the end and the vocal section then plays with exceptional clarity.  I noticed only a couple of minor statics.  The powerful instrumental section then plays so well with no interference.  Ex+ for the intro and Mint- for the remainder is a fair assessment of the audio.

The intro on 'Wear Me Down' is superb and the opening vocal is just as impressive.  The first chorus is 'as new' and it continues in the same precise way with no intrusion, no distortion.  Outstanding power and definition throughout - the most 'complete' version that you could wish for and Mint is 100% deserved.

The Cover & Lyric Inner

The glossy cover is in superb condition with barely any wear.  Minimal rubbing on the two right corners, one very small indent next to the spine and 3/4 tiny rubs near the top edge on the back cover that you can hardly see about sums it up.  It's a stunning cover and has been so well preserved down the years.

The lyric inner is just as impressive with only a couple of minor edge rubs and a faint crease in the top left corner on the yellow side only.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
