Blur : Modern Life Is Rubbish A-01 / B-01 1st Press 1993
This first pressing plays to a very high standard with only minimal interference. Overall the clarity and depth of the audio is very impressive and you can tell the vinyl has not been overplayed. There is a 20 or so second section on 'Miss America' that has the most 'obvious' interference but as stated below it really isn't that loud. The vinyl is very clean with only some light hairlines and a couple of tiny hairline scratches.
The cover is in lovely condition with hardly any wear and there is nothing that stands out. It has retained its original shape and structure incredibly well. The lyric inner is 'as new' with no wear.

The majority of S1 ranges between Near Mint and Mint(-) (T3 intro Ex+ / T4 final extended note VG+)
The majority of S2 ranges between NM and Mint(-) (T2 intro VG+ for 4/5 seconds / T3 VG for 20 seconds / T7 intro Ex-)
The cover is Near Mint-
The lyric inner is Mint
The labels are Mint
Visual description
The vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a very strong glossy sheen. Only under a strong light can you see some faint hairlines and a very small area on S2 where there are a couple of small hairline scratches. The labels are super clean with no spindle wear.
Play grading
The opening track 'For Tomorrow' plays so clearly with only a couple of ticks and there are no intrusive clicks or pops. A small number of insignificant dust ticks and overall Near Mint is fair.
The intro on 'Advert' plays with stunning precision and the Albarn's first vocal is just as good. It continues to play with superb audio and from start to finish I only picked up 3/4 light ticks. Let's say Near Mint again.
'Colin Zeal' has a couple of static ticks on the intro and from then on there is no 'background' at all, the clarity and depth of the audio is superb. I will grade the intro as Ex+ and the remainder as Mint it is that good.
'Pressure On Julian' plays with great clarity with no obvious interference aside from 3/4 static ticks on the final extended note. So the vast majority is Mint and only that final 'section' grades as VG+
'Starshaped' is 'as new' with sublime clarity throughout. Mint
'Blue Jeans' is close to that with only some mega light ticks near the end that are so in the background and totally non-intrusive. The fade out has a little crackle but overall I think Near Mint is more than deserved.
'Chemical World' does have one click during the first verse but apart from that plays very clearly with no other interference. The quiet mid section instrumental has barely any static and Near Mint is about right.
There is complete silence in the 'dead wax' prior to the hidden track 'Intermission' which then plays with stunning clarity right through to the final groove. A Mint end to the side.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The intro on 'Sunday, Sunday' has only very light static for the first 4/5 seconds and from then on is nigh on perfect with only a couple of background ticks. Near Mint
'Oily Water' has a little static on the intro that is a little more obvious and then plays very clearly with only a small number of very light ticks, nothing intrusive though and the majority plays with stunning quality. The end section in particular is superb, great power and depth. A VG+ intro for 4/5 seconds and then Near Mint for the remainder.
The quiet intro on 'Miss America' plays perfectly for the first 30 seconds and then there are 4/5 static click type sounds and some light ticks. This lasts for about 20 seconds and overall is not that intrusive. From then on the clarity cannot really be faulted and I only detected a couple of light ticks. The majority is Near Mint with only that one section grading as VG
'Villa Rosie' plays with sublime clarity, depth and power from start to finish. A quintessential Blur track the playback is exceptional and Mint- is well deserved. Just a couple of static ticks on the fade out.
'Coping' plays to the same standard with a clarity that is second to none. Mint- again.
The intro on 'Turn It Up' is flawless and it continues in the same precise way with no intrusion. An easy one to grade this is Mint all the way.
The intro on 'Resigned' plays very clearly overall with just one light click and a couple of ticks. The opening vocal plays with perfect clarity and this is kept up through the rest of the track. Stunning audio! An Ex- intro but the rest is Mint the playback is stunning. 'Commercial Break' ends the album in fine style with no interference. A Mint 'hidden track'.
In summary this first pressing plays to a very high standard with only minimal interference. I have graded honestly and whilst there are a small number of light ticks and an even smaller number of clicks the vast majority does indeed play with outstanding quality. The only real intrusion is that section during 'Miss America' but even then it isn't loud and as you can see there are many tracks that grade as Near Mint or better :-)
The Cover & Lyric Inner
The cover is in lovely condition with only very minimal shelf wear i.e. hardly any! The top edge has only a couple of small 'rubs' and the bottom edge is perfect. The spine is very clean with only a couple of crease lines and is slightly compressed in a couple of areas. The corners are in superb order with barely any wear and the opening edge looks untouched. The front is so clean with only a handful of the usual minor creases next to the spine and the back cover is just as impressive. A fine example overall.
The glossy lyric inner is in perfect condition with no side splits, marking or creasing.
