Bo rocks a greasy-fork burger joint so hard the patties come back to life as the cows they once were and take sweet revenge on diners who'd just wanted to watch a show and eat the grilled flesh of their tormentors. Weirdly enough, he was still called back for three encores by the survivors.

Sorry folks. But that's just what I was thinking while listening to this album. Now I'm scraping myself from the wall and trying to get myself together to write a review. Oh well, forget about that, I'll write it anyway.

This album is so incredible. Deep down inside, it seems that my whole musical odyssey just exists to lead me here. This album has got everything that I love in music. I began loving music with 1960s stuff -- especially the early Deep Purple, with their cool flower power organ sound. This album's got it. In large amounts.

Then I spent a significant portion of my life digging up obscure garage and punk shit -- I love that raw, crude power and the fuck you attitude. This album has that in large amounts... I mean, "Elephant Man" is pure punk rock. Okay, maybe slower, but just as chaotic and aggressive as the best of them. And, I mean... A song called "Shut Up Woman" may not be politically correct, but every penis-equipped being will totally dig it. (The others... Why they can shut up of course.) (And it's a song about the power of pussy anyway, so it's feminist.) And of course, this album has a whole lotta soul, a big heart and dark blue blues ("Hot Buttered Blues") -- in large amounts. And it's bloody funny too -- listen to "I Don't Like You", which starts by Diddley imitating opera singing (and doing amazingly well), before it turns into a great man vs. woman proto-rap. My fave on this great, great album.

Strange. I was looking for some REAL dirty, evil soul/funk shit for years, but I never really found anything, though I knew it must exist. When I heard Bo Diddley went funky in the 70s, I was certainly interested in it, but could never find anything and finally gave up. Well, turns out that Bo has done exactly what I was looking for.

Really, why does everyone know about Jimi Hendrix and James Brown, but not about this? This is a bloody MONSTER. Why has it only be released on some obscure Japanese label? Why are so many stupid people saying Bo Diddley's 70s stuff is mediocre? Really, everybody with ears and a heart will have to submit to these album.

I love Diddley's 50s stuff, and I love the few of the 60s stuff I know, but this album is at least on par with his earliers stuff. And by Golly, that def'nit'ly means something.

Thanks Bo, once again, you made my day. I'll have to check the other 70s stuff now, for sure. Bo Diddley's the man. He's got it all. In large amounts.

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)           WE GRADE THE VINYL AS EXCELLENT. This is one of those albums that are somewhat difficult to grade. It is somewhere between VG++ and NEAR MINT, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions ARE visible, but they are extremely shallow, superficial  and only moderately visually distracting (nothing significant).For the most part, the vinyl looks impeccable without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)           The record is pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.

(c)            The record comes in a hi-grade MFSL PVC inner sleeve, which has - apparently with success - shielded the record from the harmful impact of elements over many years!

(d)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-          Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 1.

-          Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on back side, apparently from aging.

-          Cover has a minor 'bump' (dent) on the spine (nothing significant)

-          Cover has a tape residue (yellowish discoloration from the removed piece of old and aged scotch tape) on the opening side (nothing significant)
