Jamaican singer and songwriter Bob Andy composed his Song Book between 1966 and 1968 and only released it in 1970. He first came to notoriety as the front man for The Paragons, but he really hit his stride when going solo in the late 60s. That is in part, no doubt, down to the fact that he recorded a great run of tunes with none other than Clement "Coxsone" Dodd's influential Studio One label. They were all assembled for the sake of this album which has since, as you will hear, been covered by various different artists over the years. Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh of The Wailers provide lush vocal harmonies on three of the cuts and backing comes from Studio One band Soul Vendors.
