"..........PLAYS BOB BROOKMEYER & SOME OTHERS" - BOB BROOKMEYER QUARTET - - CLEF MG C-644 - - A MEGA RARE OFFERING OF THIS OUTSTANDING PURE STRAIGHT AHEAD JAZZ LP, FROM THE GREAT BOB BROOKMEYER !!! - - The jacket, with it's fantastic David Stone-Martin design is in good shape, with only slight edge and corner wear, with it's crisp clear sleeve notes and is certainly very attractive indeed !!! - - The deep groove, silver and black labelled disc, with trumpeter log, has a number of marks, which results in a handful of isolated tics only and a further handful of short instances of surface noise in odd places, but overall I would say that well over 90%+ of the performance makes for outstanding jazz listening, I found it a total joy from start to finish, but saying this, I must tell you that it is NOT a copy for the audiophile ! - - The brilliant trio, supporting a magnificent Brookmeyer, is made up of: Jimmy Rowles, pno, Buddy Clark, bass and Mel Lewis on drums - - All members solo superbly, I repeat, this is fantastic jazz from the 1st to last note !!! - - 7 great trax make up the session: "You took advantage of me", "There will never be another you", "What is there to say", "He ain't got rhythm", "Jasmin", "The Buldog blues" and finally, "Sticks and stems" - - A virtually impossible album to find, I think the winner will be pleasantly surprised at the performance regardless of my stringent description! - - NO RESERVE start and a very low start price, let me wish you good luck in your bids and thank you for your interest - - £17.99
