Description
On offer is a 1971 LP by BOB & CAROLE PEGG called HE CAME FROM THE MOUNTAIN on TRAILER RECORDS, catalogue number LER 3016.
Shortly afterwards, Bob and Carole Pegg and the accompanying musicians here ((Alan Eden, Barry Lyons, Andrew Massey, John Myatt) traded under the name Mr Fox. This record anticipates the great 'Mr Fox' and 'The Gypsy' and might be considered as the first expression in a genre unique to Bob Pegg: Yorkshire Gothic. Gore and romance are perfectly balanced, as the forces of light (Bob's warmth and Carole's witchy seductiveness) wrestle with the dark (ultra violence, existential dread, an interest in the ritual aspects of Christianity). Haunting stuff, indeed. Alan Eden and Barry Lyons went on to form Trees.
I would grade the record as EXCELLENT following Record Collector guidelines: shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. Side two has a few more pops and a bit more surface noise, but these are minor, and do not detract from the overall listening experience. The TEXTURED cover rates very good plus, with general wear: minor ring-wear, minor bumps to the corners and a raggedy spine. But nothing drastic - there are no tears or writing. The red Trailer labels are clean with some spindlewear.
