Bob Dylan : Blonde On Blonde A1/B2/C3/D1 Early Pressing

This early pressing is another LP from the collection that I purchased recently that has been so well preserved down the years.  This has been played a few times but it has lost none of its original sonic quality, the audio is absolutely stunning!

Such is their quality there is no need to describe each track in detail as I generally do.  However, I will still listen to every track in full so as to provide a 'correct' grading and will state any imperfections even if minor.

As stated this double album plays to a fantastic standard with just one light click on S2.  The clarity and depth of the audio throughout is so impressive and there is just no underlying static at all.  The vinyls are in pristine condition which pays testament to how well this album has been looked after.  Never seen or heard better!

This is not a first pressing but is still an early version from '68 I believe.  It has smooth orange CBS labels and a 'Stereo' sticker on the front cover.  The misspelling 'Stuck Inside Of Mobile With Thee' is on the inside of the gatefold and the label.  Incidentally the cover is in excellent condition with only minor wear.

Play grading

'Rainy Day Women...' has only one dust tick on the intro and then plays to perfection as simple as that.  The remainder of the side is of the same standard with literally no interference at all.  No ticks, clicks, pops, static or crackle.  'Visions Of Johanna' for example has clarity of sound that could not be any better.  'One Of Must Know' has just a minimal hint of inner groove distortion but it is totally non-intrusive and plays exceptionally well from beginning to end.  S2 is equally as good and again the clarity is so impressive.  There are only a couple of very light ticks on 'I Want You' but that does not qualify as interference!  'Stuck Inside Of Mobile...' has one light click just beyond the half way point but otherwise plays with no intrusion.  The other two tracks on the side play with stunning quality and 'as new' is a correct description.

'Most Likely You Go Your Way...' begins S3 in fine style with only a couple of very light ticks in the middle section.  Again there is no underlying static and the playback is stunning from start to finish.  The quieter 'Temporary Like Achilles' provides further evidence of an album so well looked after - it plays with amazing clarity and...no interference.  A Mint version if ever there was one.  The remaining tracks play with wonderful clarity and depth including a superb rendition of '4th Time Around' which has no 'background' at all.  The classic 'Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands' on S4 plays with breathtaking clarity and definition from the first note to the last.  There is one dust tick on the intro but in all honesty this plays with the same precision as it would have done when first released in '68.  What a version - a stunning album all round.

Visual grading

Both vinyls are in amazing condition and you would be mistaken for thinking they were 'as new' at first glance!  They have an immaculate glossy sheen and the grooves are so clean.  They really are in beautiful condition and I can only detect 3/4 faint hairlines and there are no marks or scratches at all.  There is a little spindle wear but certainly not an excessive amount and the run out grooves and labels are in superb condition also.

The Gatefold & Inners

The laminated cover is in excellent condition with only minor wear.  The edges have no rubbing and there is very little corner wear.  The spine is close to perfect with only minimal wear on the actual laminate.  The opening edges have a little handling wear - a couple of small 'crimps', it has just been lightly compressed here - nothing major.  The front cover is very clean with no marking or laminate damage as such - just one small crease on the lower left corner.  The "Stereo" sticker can be seen top right and you can also see the remnants from where the original "59'5d" price sticker was.  The back cover is in superb shape with only very minimal ringwear and the inside of the gatefold is pristine.  A fine example overall.  The original plain white die-cut 'Patent Applied For - Made In England' inners are in excellent condition with no side splits or tears, just some light creasing.

The records have been cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine
