Description
Up for your consideration is an interesting and ultra-rare bootleg LP capturing unreleased Bob Dylan recordings from the early 1960s. According to an online website which catalogs bootleg Dylan LPs, the one here includes recordings from July 1961 to January of 1963. That website's catalog number for the release, Teufel Folk Songs BD-554, corresponds to my copy.
Although the cover clearly demarcates that this is Dylan material (which it is), the vinyl labels misleadingly do not correspond to what is actually on the disc. It states instead "Von Grossenshush, Teufel Folk Songs, Produced by Klaus v Schmidt. 1009 S. Summer Lane, Boise Idaho." All of this is of course tongue-in-cheek, as are the song listings on the vinyl, such as "Sei Gegruust, O Jungfrax Fuhrer."
The actual songs on the disc (listed on the front cover) are:
Side A: Handsome Molly, Naomi Wise, Poor Lazarus, Mean Old Southern Railroad, Acne, Man On the Street, and He Was A Friend of Mine
Side B: Hard Times in New York Town, Poor Boy Blues, Ballad For a Friend, Man On the Street, Standing On the Highway, Talkin' Bear Mountain.
CONDITION:
Cover: NM- (still in shrink; minimal edgewear and tight binding)
Vinyl: NM- (very few marks of any kind; bright and glossy essentially unplayed vinyl)
I have been a Dylan collector for many years and this is the only copy I've come across in that time. Only one other time online have I seen one auctioned. Some have suggested this may be a TMOQ release but nowhere have I seen this confirmed. Its origins are relatively murky. At any rate, the winning bidder will be the proud owner of some very rare Dylan material.
This is a NO reserve auction with a low starting price for what I feel is the item's final value.
