Description
Great White Wonder. Condition is "Used". Shipped via USPS Media Mail.
The one that started it all!: HOLY GRAIL of any bootleg collection. Amalgam of studio outtakes, Basement Tapes, home recordings, TV performance.
Either 1st edition, or an immediate follow-up 2nd edition: Matrix / run-out groove #s = GF-001 / 002 / 003 / 004 (see photo).
Vinyl = cloudy in spots, and there are a few divots: these are manufacturing attributes [presumably a burgeoning 'underground' concern didn't have unfettered access to pressing plant facilities].
This initial edition came in 2 generic white sleeves with no rubber stamped title. Later editions --- appropriated from these disks and of lesser sound quality--- were the ones that had the title Great White Wonder (or just G.W.W.) rubber stamped on the front. Still later editions had paper inserts.
This edition did not come in a double gatefold sleeve, but in two individual sleeves joined on the L side with masking tape. This copy is still in those original sleeves, but the masking tape (which was yellowing and was discolouring the jackets' edges) was discarded long ago.
No printed information or writing on labels: just stamped with #s 1, 2, 3, 4 on smaller-than-standard size blank white labels (see photos).
A tangible piece of rock history: the prime catalyst for the movement wherein decisions about what material would be made available to the general public were fan determined, not industry throttled . . .
