Description

From my own personal collection I am pleased to offer an exceptional example of the studio album by BOB DYLAN titled “JOHN WESLEY HARDING”, Catalogue Number SBPG 63252. This is an ORIGINAL 1968 UK STEREO PRESSING on the CBS RECORD LABEL, with a near perfect Upton Printing Group sleeve. The package comes complete with the correct orange and white inner sleeve which advertises other CBS albums of the period. [The orange CBS record labels are rough-textured and the matrix numbers are A1/B1].

The front-laminated single sleeve is in EX+/MINT- condition with virtually no wear or creasing. There is a tiny mark near the opening edge of the back cover and two faint discoloration marks on the front cover near the spine – but apart from these extremely minor points this sleeve is absolutely perfect - just as it left the printers.

The top quality CBS record is fairly solidly pressed and sits flat and true on the turntable.

The Matrix Numbers are:

Side 1 – SBPG 63252  A1

Side 2 – SBPG 63252  B1

Visually I would grade the record as being in somewhere between VG and EX condition as there are some noticeable sleeve-removal/sleeve rub type surface marks evident under bright light. These are mostly superficial and do not cause any significant audio problems. The rough textured orange CBS labels are pristine with only a few short spindle traces each side. There is virtually no wear to the spindle hole. I am confident that the record has not been played many times.

PLAYGRADE ASSESSMENT:

This is a top quality CBS pressing which plays with outstanding sound quality. The stereo playback is clear and vibrant with excellent detail and instrument separation. Both sides play to a very high standard. There is no discernable deterioration in sound quality and barely any unwanted noise at all (just a few light tics in a couple of places which are really not intrusive and do not spoil the enjoyment of the music). I think that it will be very difficult to find a significantly better-playing copy of this wonderful album.

Complete with the correct orange and white CBS inner sleeve which advertises other CBS albums of the period. This is in MINT- condition.

GRADINGS

The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega Planar 3 turntable fitted with an Elys 2 cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. My gradings are strict and in accordance with the following descriptions:

·         MINT- Record is superb, almost like new, with just a few sleeve removal type surface marks and no deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve is near perfect in all respects.

·         EX Record is a top quality example, with just a few very light surface marks which do not sound, and barely any discernable deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve has slight wear and/or creasing.

·         VG Record has some visual surface marks, but still plays to a high standard without any major deterioration in sound quality – just a few clicks or light surface sound in places. Sleeve has normal wear and tear without any major defects. Still a very presentable sleeve.

PACKAGING

Records are sent out in new “Wrapro” record mailers. These are rectangular and strong, providing excellent protection to the edges and corners. Records are removed from both inner and outer sleeves in order to prevent seam-splits in transit.
