About The "Rock & Religion" Concept:

"Rock & Religion" was a syndicated radio program produced in Sacramento, CA that often included rare or unreleased music from the featured artist. Active from 1977 to 1981, this "Rock & Religion" generally aired on Sundays and between 1977 and ran through 1981. This syndicated radio show’s producer Mary Neely co-hosted the program along with singer Michael Roe.

As this radio series’ title would imply, "Rock & Religion" focused on rock music from a spiritual slant. Among the musicians featured during this radio show’s run were Roger McGuinn, Phil Keaggy, The Rolling Stones, T-Bone Burnette, The Who, Keith Green as well as the program up for auction here – Bob Dylan.

With last shows airing in 1981, original promotional vinyl copies of these shows are heavily desired and sought after by record collectors.

"Rock & Religion" – Bob Dylan – A Musical Biography:

This program focusing on Bob Dylan is in 4 parts and spread out over two LPs. This project was conceptualized as a result of the commercial success as well as the controversy surrounding Dylan’s then current album "Slow Train Coming" and his conversion to Christianity.

The program’s four parts are broken into the following themes: "The Protest Years" (1961–1964), "Dylan The Prophet" (1964-1973), "The Karmic Bob Dylan" (1974-1978) and "The New Bob Dylan" (1979).

Both two-sided cue sheets are included and contain references to songs that were used in the context of this program as well as statement and paragraph references for who delivered the oratory in the various segments.

The album jackets have no rips, tears or scuffs. However, there are some marks from handling (looks like transfer from fingers after handling a newspaper. The backside of jacket number one has what looks like some coffee-stained drops on the right side. You have to remember that these album jackets were likely handled by an audio board engineer at a radio station sometime between the hours of 12:00AM and morning drive-time! J The actual LPs and enclosed cue sheets are in pristine condition.

This very scarce syndicated radio program "Rock & Religion" featuring Bob Dylan is unique in that it’s not a taped-copy – it’s the genuine 2-LP program sent out to radio stations that aired this long defunct syndicated show.
