The outer box is in really good shape. The back has some fingerprint marks on it that are noticeable, but both outside and inside are otherwise immaculate. The box is as rigid as the day it was made. There is some writing in red and blue biro on one side of the inside lip of the box, someone has written the catalogue number. The one previous owner assures me he bought it like this from new and must have been there when bought. Otherwise, no tears, bends, creases, splits at all. Because of the writing, a strong Very Good+ grading.
The original booklet is in Very Good+ condition. There are a number of grease spots/tiny stains on the front cover but the rest of the booklet is perfect; no creases, stains, tears or loose pages. It looks like no one has actually opened the booklet before.
The original inner sleeves are in Excellent condition. All are completely intact with no splits, tears, rips or ringwear. They are very thin and are usually found to be split - not these ones!
Visually, the records must grade Excellent. LP1 and LP5 have a small number of paper scuffs and on LP5 there is a small dark stain on Side 10. The spindles are clean with no marks around it and no spindle traces on any of the sides. The labels are also clean with no marks, scuffs or writing. Overall, it looks to us that only LP1 and LP5 have been played.
The playing condition is Excellent+. As we guessed, only LP1 & LP5 have been played. LP2-LP4 are as near to mint as you can get. LP1 and LP5 play perfectly as well, no nasty pops, clicks or crackle. A really clean sounding copy.
We can only put up 12 photos for this auction - more photos can be sent on request.
Recorded in New Jersey, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Australia and New York City, 'High Hopes' features Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello on numerous tracks and will be released on January 13. The album also features a cover of Suicide's 'Dream Baby Dream'.
Morello toured Australia with Springtseen earlier this year and contributes vocals to the song 'The Ghost of Tom Joad' as well playing guitar on the album's title track. Clarence Clemons, who passed away in 2011, and Danny Federici, who passed away in 2008, also appear on several of the album's songs.
'High Hopes' isn't a totally new song. A version of the track - originally released in 1990 by The Havalinas - features on Springsteen's 1996 EP 'Blood Brothers'. However, Springsteen has recently reworked older material for newer releases, such as 'Land Of Hope And Dreams' on 'Wrecking Ball'.
