"Contrary to popular belief the Fontana EPs were never officially released.  On the verge of release with some copies sent to record stores Phonogram cancelled the project as permission from CBS was refused.  Planned release date was May 1965 and all tracks were taken live from Newport Folk Festival in July 1963" - quote from Rare Record Price Guide 2012

"In 1963 the gifted young performer Bob Dylan leaped into international popularity with remarkable new songs and adaptions.  And no song of his has achieved more renown than Blowing In The Wind, a sort of "Northern freedom song." Bob sings it here along with a group of fellow performers who joined him on stage in what was one of the most exciting moments of the Newport Folk Festivals, where all these songs were recorded.  A number of people from every background have joined hands with the Negroes in the movement around segregation and for equal rights.  Those in the folk-song movement are proud that so many of its leading figures have become identified, personally and musically, with this major social current of our time.

Joan Baez has played such an active role, including an increasing number of songs on the integration movement in her concerts.  She sang at the historic March on Washington of August 28, 1963 where 200,000 demonstrators for civil rights made known their feelings.  Oh, Freedom, a century-old spiritual, is now more timely than ever.

Pete Seeger really needs no introduction.  Distinguished musicologist, passionate performer, banjo virtuoso, he here gives us a remarkable version of the traditional Careless Love - one of those "standards" of blues singers which seems to have perpetual life." - text from back cover
