Presented for your consideration and bidding enjoyment is this much sought after LP "Survival" by Bob Marley and the Wailers. This is a VERY LIMITED 1979 Jamaican pressing issued on RED VINYL, by Tuff Gong Records. This is an original pressing with "Tuff Gong International, 56 Hope Rd, Kgn 6, Jamaica. All rights reserved." labels. Other Bob Marley colored vinyl releases, such as the tri-colored "Legend" are much more common. "Survival" in red vinyl is one of the most wanted Marley releases and very rarely becomes available for bid on eBay.

NOTE ON JAMAICAN RECORDS

During the 1970's Jamaican recording studios did not have "state of the art" equipment that was widely used by US record companies. As a result, most early Jamaican manufactured recordings did not have the "clean" sound heard on US pressings. It has been my exprience that, especially, colored vinyl Jamacian pressings had more noticeable surface noise which was not found on US issues.

CONDITION

I hate surprises when I buy records online without being able to first inspect them, so I will try to accurately describe the condition of this item. I do not use letter grading (VG+, NM), or numerical scales (1-10), because these are totally subjective and open to individual interpretation. I have seen records graded as "Mint" that I would consider a "G-" at best.

The cover is in overall good shape (for being almost 30 years old!), but does shows signs of wear. There are some light signs of ring wear, there are two small spots on the back where the surface has minor damage, there are minor creases or bend marks in three corners, and the back spline has a center split approximately 4.5 inches long where the disc has worn through (see close up photos for detailed images). The colors remain vibrant with no noticeable fading, and the cover has NO BARCODE, NO drill holes or cut off corners, NO stickers or price tags, NO writing, NO name tags, NO water damage , and NO mold or mildew.

Included with the LP is another rare item seldom seen: The original gatefold lyric sheet. Most of the lyric sheets were lost or thrown out, and today are seldom see.

The disc itself has been played and enjoyed but is in exceptionally good condition. The labels are in very good condition ( they appear faded in the pictures due to being "bleached out" by the camera flash ). There are no stickers, tears, or writing on either of the labels. The vinyl retains a glossy shine and has NO warps, NO cracks, NO chips, NO rough spots, and NO evidence of excessive groove wear.There are some light scruffs to the surfaces which do not affect playing (but NO deep scratches). I test played this record and it was skip free and to my ears had great fidelity and tonal clarity, with incredible, speaker shaking bass response. So, Mon, if you are the lucky winner of my auction, put this disc on your turntable, crank up the volume, catch a fire and enjoy!

I am not a dealer or a record store owner. I am a private individual whose passion for buying music turned into an obsession. Now, I have to greatly reduce the number of items I have collected over many years. .All bid items have been kept in my air conditioned, smoke free, and pet free home since I acquired them.

The cost includes DELIVERY CONFIRMATION, a specially designed mailing container constructed of 200 pound test crush resistant cardboard, and, if needed,cardboard fillers, and heavy clear vinyl protective sleeves.
