Booker T. & the M.G.'s is an instrumental R&B/funk band that was influential in shaping the sound of Southern soul and Memphis soul. The original members of the group were Booker T. Jones (organ, piano), Steve Cropper (guitar), Lewie Steinberg (bass), and Al Jackson, Jr. (drums). In the 1960s, as members of the house band of Stax Records, they played on hundreds of recordings by artists such as Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, Bill Withers, Sam & Dave, Carla Thomas, Rufus Thomas, Johnnie Taylor and Albert King. They also released instrumental records under their own name, of which the best known is the 1962 hit single "Green Onions".[1] As originators of the unique Stax sound, the group was one of the most prolific, respected, and imitated of its era. By the mid-1960s, bands on both sides of the Atlantic were trying to sound like Booker T. & the M.G.'s.
On the Custom Plum London Record labels, with Made In England Label Text to both labels.
Both sides of the Record Labels are in undamaged Excellent condition, both record labels show just a few light signs of play around the centre.
Side 1 Matrix, AML 2556-3 A, and Side 2, AML 2556-1 A.
Both sides of the vinyl LP are in are in Excellent condition, bright glossy vinyl surfaces showing a few surface hairline scratches.
The LP plays with a great sound quality.
The Vinyl LP comes in it’s original polythene lined inner bag, and is housed in its original, front laminated, James Upton Picture sleeve, which is in superb Excellent condition, a really nice sleeve with unbroken laminate lifting on the front panel near to the spine edge, and light handling and age toning to the reverse.
