Description
HERE'S Country Blues icon BLIND BLAKE, in two of his indelible performances, with his bullet-proof, articulate finger-picking guitar style and ingratiating vocal chops, on "BOOTLEG RUM DUM BLUES" and "LOW DOWN LOVING GAL."
Blake was one of the major stars of Paramount records between 1926 and 1932, right up there with "Ma" Rainey, Papa Charlie Jackson and (later) Charley Patton. He never disappoints!
This original Paramount 12695 is in serviceable VV- condition. It's halfway beat, but plays well despite the slings and arrows. It's lucky to turn one up in ANY condition!
PHOTO: Blind Blake - his only known photographic image. He had a nice firm signature for a blind guy! (n.b. in 2020, Blind Boy Paxton is his genetic clone!)
*****
These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
