Early Wergo release featuring a very early & mindblowing electronic piece from Boris Blacher plus great avant-garde pieces.
Some info on the release: Rare german release on Wergo (that released also records of Folke Rabe, John Cage, Giacinto Scelsi, Michael Vetter, Gyorgy Ligeti, Penderecki, Arthea, Gerhard Stabler, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Luigi Nono, Oskar Sala and others). Features one of the earliest electronic music pieces to be written in Germany (and one of the most experimental i dare say) plus a mix of avant garde and experimental pieces. Blacher was a kind of a "cursed" composer and you can feel this all over this record.
Boris Blacher was born when his parents were living within a Russian-speaking community in the Manchurian town of Niuzhuang (hence the use of the Julian calendar on his birth record). He spent his first years in China and in the Asian parts of Russia, and in 1919, he eventually came to live in Harbin. In 1922, after finishing school, he went to Berlin where he began to study architecture and mathematics. Two years later, he turned to music and studied composition with Friedrich Ernst Toch.
His career was interrupted by National Socialism. He was accused of writing degenerate music and lost his teaching post at the Dresden Conservatory.
His career resumed after 1945, and he later became director of the Music Academy of Berlin, and is today regarded as one of the most influential music figures of his time. His students include Aribert Reimann, Isang Yun, Maki Ishii, Fritz Geißler, Giselher Klebe, Heimo Erbse, Klaus Huber, Francis Burt, Gottfried von Einem, and Richard Wernick.
Blacher was married to the pianist Gerty Blacher-Hertzog. They have four children including the German actress Tatjana Blacher and the international violinist Kolja Blacher. Close to the 60's wave of german contemporary composers with Wilhelm Killmayer, Gunter Bialas, Josef Anton Riedl, Helmut Lachenmann, Nicolaus A. Huber, Fritz Buchtger, Siegfrid Borris, Friedrich Voss, Dieter Einfeldt, Wolfgang Steffen, Gunter Becker, Norbert Linke, Diether De La Motte, Bernd Alois Zimmermann, Jurg Baur and others.
Condition: Vinyl and cover lie in mint condition. Vinyl looks perfect and plays like new when i tested it, while cover is perfect from any aspect, sharp edges and no visible defect. A keeper's copy!
