Brian Setzer helped revive rockabilly as leader of the Stray Cats in the '80s and helped revive jump-blues swing as leader of the Brian Setzer Orchestra in the '90s. On Nitro Burnin' Funny Daddy he succeeded at doing the same for another vintage style of music — garage rock. Fronting a power trio that consists of bassist Johnny Hatton and drummer Bernie Driesel, Setzer attacks the material as fast, hard and noisily as he can. He's had too long and too successful a career to pass for an inspired amateur playing in an emptied-out garage, but he does allow the amplifiers to distort and he did emphasize energy over precision in picking the takes. A MUST HAVE VINYL RECORD for any fan!
