Description
This is a nice stock copy of a single by Hale and the Hushabyes: "Yes Sir, That's My Baby" b/w "Jack's Theme" (Reprise 0299). Released in 1964.
This is the hard to find pink-label stock copy.
The A side was first issued in the U.S. as "Yes Sir, That's My Baby" b/w "900 Quetzels" by Hale and the Hushabyes on the Apogee label. It was reissued weeks later, with the same group name, as "Yes Sir, That's My Baby" b/w "Jack's Theme" (the item up for auction here) on the Reprise label. Then, when reissued on the York label, the artist's name was changed to The Date with Soul, with "Bee Side Soul" on the flip (York 408).
Hale and the Hushabyes/The Date With Soul is actually the combined efforts of Phil Spector protégée Jack Nitzsche (who produced and arranged), Sonny & Cher, Jackie De Shannon, Brian Wilson (who offers his unmistakable falsetto on "Yes Sir That's My Baby"), and Sandy Wynns (who provides lead vocals, though it is also argued that Edna Wright, sister of Darlene Wright, aka Darlene Love, of the Blossoms, is lead vocalist).
Record is in close to NM condition, but there is a very slight warp that does not affect play.
